Meet Amanda Donovan

Southsea Pet Sitting was founded in 2014 when I realised I could do what I’d always wanted to do – work with animals. After a long career in IT, I took some time off to complete a Masters in Creative Writing. While looking after a friend’s pets I decided to start a business doing what I loved.

I am fully insured with Cliverton pet business insurance and I’m DBS police checked. Most importantly, I understand your pet is a loved member of your family.

Southsea Pet Sitting has experience with cats, tortoises, degus, guinea pigs, rabbits, birds, snakes and fish too. I have experience of all ages and breeds of cats and I am Cat First Aid qualified.

This is my full time and only job so I’ll have the time to spend with your pets, including taking them to the vet if needed, administering medication and giving them lots of attention, cuddles and play time.

I am a car owner which is essential in this highly responsible role.

About My Pet Family

I live with 3 cats; Dobby is 7 years old and Wiggy and Ziggy are hyper 5 year olds. They are high energy, playful Devon Rex cats. My spare time is mostly spent with them as they love to play. My cats are indoor/garden cats with access to a catio and in 2023 we created a secure garden with cat fencing installed by Sanctuary SOS. I understand the needs of both outdoor and indoor cats, elderly and young cats.

Rainbow Bridge: Teddy, red tabby devon rex lap cat (5/2006 – 19/11/2021) and Batfink, black smoke devon rex monkey (5/2006 – 31/12/2021).

I have a bit of a menagerie; Taz, a Blue fronted Amazon parrot, a tortoise, rescue chickens and an ornamental ducks.

I chose Dobby for my logo as he’s quite a character as you can see! In 2023, Dobby had an eye removed due to a diffuse melanoma.

Very happy with the service provided by Amanda. This was our first experience of using a cat sitter to look after our very elderly cat. Amanda did a great job, ensuring he had all his medication and plenty of attention, she sent us regular updates and photos which were much appreciated, thanks Amanda.

Amanda did a brilliant job looking after our cat Tilly over Christmas. She sent plenty of photos and even bought Tilly some treats for Christmas Day (which were suitable for her sensitive tummy). The house was in perfect condition when we returned with clean litter trays and no cat smell. We will definitely be using Southsea pet sitting for any future trips.

Southsea pet sitting was amazing! Amanda was really reliable and attentive with our little Ozzy. We have never left him before and I felt really reassured, that he was going to be super looked after with Amanda. She kindly sent pictures of him every day and regular updates to reassure us that he was well and happy. Amanda has taken such lovely care of our house cat over the past 2 years whenever we go away. We have daily photos, and peace of mind. Our cat is an elderly rescue cat, and Amanda is very good with her.
